The BioMed Laboratory Information System (LIMS) effectively meets the needs of any laboratory setting, regardless of its size. This comprehensive system includes tailored processes for running high-volume laboratories in clinical settings, using industry standards to generate easy-to-understand results. Interfaces connect analyzers to the system so results are entered into the LIS. In addition, results for Biochemistry, Hematology/Serology, Hormones/Tumor Markers, Drugs/Toxicology, Immunology, Urine/Stool/Fluids, and Virology can be printed, faxed, e-mailed, or distributed in customized reports.

  Key Points

Order requisition entry handles printing of requisition forms with barcodes, duplicate order
checking, customizable charge capture at time of order, specimen collection, results entry, and customizable priority charging (per test or by department)

Specimen collection and verification features user-definable bar code specimen labels,
phlebotomy patient line-management workflow with the ability to create collection rounds or allow for collection queues for ambulatory areas, as well as full tracking of specimens by timestamps and users involved, and barcode support for specimen accessioning

Results entry provides results from online automated analyzers or manual results entry with
interpretive warning indicators if results are outside normal ranges. Users can create a centralized database for reference, critical, clinical ranges, and delta change checks

Simple results entry for microbiology susceptibility tests uses industry standard data for
    antibiotic sensitivity for organisms

Template-driven reporting is available for textual reporting

Priority work lists are customizable by discipline.

Results verification withholds test results until verified with rules for No Verification/Single
Verification/Double Verification for a particular test. Range validation and "Delta-Check" rules can be applied when results are verified

Results inquiry provides graphical patient cumulative results, flow sheets, and support for
    printing results in multiple languages

Quality control includes reagent setup that collects Quality Control Data, setup of normal
ranges/expiration dates for controls, and Levey-Jennings graphs

Management reports include workload statistics, turnaround time, susceptible organism,
    outstanding results, and specimen statistics.
